EV Battery & Motor Insulation Materials - Films, Tapes, Adhesives, & Silicone
Maximize EV Battery & Motor performance with thin, lightweight, insulation materials
Your source for Custom Insulation Materials
CS Hyde converts and stocks a variety of high-performance polymer plastics, polyimide tapes, conductive transfer adhesives, and flame-retardant silicone foam products that are ideal for battery insulation and design. High temperature plastics, tapes, and silicone rubber are in used in various battery applications as insulation barriers, insulating tapes, or placed between cells as compression pads in battery casings. While a lot of these battery materials improve battery performance, they also can provide thermal heat dissipation and flame resistance both common requirements when sourcing electrical insulating materials for batteries and electric motors. CS Hyde stocks a variety of insulation materials and specializes in converting them to the dimensions unique to your application.
Electrical Insulating Polymer Films
Type HN Kapton Polyimide films exhibit excellent electrical, thermal, chemical and mechanical properties that withstand extreme temperature, vibration and other demanding environments.
Polyester films have great archival quality, dimensionally stability, chemical resistance, moisture resistance, non-tearing properties, electrically insulating properties, balanced tensile properties and a temperature range of – 100 to 300F.
PEEK Film
PEEK™ film has extremely high temperature resistance combined with excellent mechanical, electrical, and chemical resistance making it a high performance semi-crystalline thermoplastic suitable for use in a wide variety of demanding applications.
Adhesive less Insulation Tip:
Heat Fusible Kapton FN® offers the same balance of physical, electrical, thermal, and chemical resistant properties found in Kapton® HN. However, it is fused with Teflon® FEP made with fluoropolymers on one or both side of the film. Kapton® FN is an adhesive less bonding solution due to the heat sealability of FEP film. Kapton® FN can be used for applications requiring thin layer insulation with good adhesion properties and dielectric strength.
Insulation Applications: Magnet Wire Insulation, Traction Motors, Hairpin Motors, Wind Generators
Wire & Cable Insulation Tapes
Kapton® tape is one of most common types of electrical insulation tapes. Produced from Kapton® HN it shares the same performance properties plus an adhesive backing with either silicone or acrylic adhesive.
Woven fiberglass cloth tapes are industry known as an excellent insulation tape for wrapping harnesses and coil winding in motor assemblies. Available in standard or premium woven fiberglass with a rubber or silicone adhesive backing.
Custom applications sometimes require specialty tapes. From adhesive lamination to roll slitting we can convert performance film into adhesive backed tapes.

High Performance Silicone Sheeting
Silicone rubber sheeting is a great option for insulating battery applications, due to its high temperature resistance and its ability to retain its properties in a wide temperature range. With other performance properties silicone can be used to enhance performance by providing heat or electrical insulation as well as solution to eliminate vibration. With different types available like solid, silicone, or foam enables engineers to utilize a wide thickness range as well as hard to soft durometers.

Battery Cell Insulation Tip:
Thermally conductive solid silicone is a firm interface material used for applications requiring a heat protectant. These products are designed to remove the heat generated by an electronic device to the ambient environment in order to ensure the reliable operation. Thermally conductive gap fillers are a great performance solution to provide electrical insulation and remove excess heat from battery pack cells. CS Hyde can die cut gap pads or fillers to your battery pack dimensions for easy assembly.
